Los Angeles Angels:

Thank you Angels for wasting the illustrious career of Mike Trout.

Anaheim (they are from Anaheim not LA; argue with a wall) has struggled to keep any type of rhythm in recent years. They start the year off great, creating excitement just to come crashing down. We finally got to see the talent of Jo Adell in full display last year and hoping for a breakout from Grayson Rodriguez is not far from reality.

However, I don’t understand the appointment of Kurt Suzuki as their manager. Is your solution to all your problems really someone with no previous managing experience? I certainly don’t think so.

You were redeemed of your mistake when Anthony Rendon announced his retirement and considering the offseason they had, that might have been their biggest move. Yusei Kikuchi is their only reliable starter and their bullpen looks shaky. Aside from Zach Neto and Jo Adell (obviously Mike Trout too if he can stay healthy), don’t expect much from their thin lineup options.

There is not much to be excited for with the Angels except for watching the final years of one of the best players to ever play the game.

Houston Astros:

Dynasty years are over.

The Astros missed the playoffs in 2025 for the first time in 9 years. With Seattle, Texas and the A’s looking strong, 2026 might mirror that same result.

Losing Framber Valdez is a gut-punch considering how limited their starting pitching options are. Excluding the eliteness of Hunter Brown, there is not much to inspire hope. How certain can we be Tatsuya Imai will be able to translate his talent into MLB?

Christian Walker appears to have forgotten how to swing a bat ever since arriving to H-Town and Yordan Alvarez can’t catch a break with injuries. Isaac Paredes, Jeremy Peña and Jose Altuve are the only players who get a pass when evaluating this dull lineup.

Astros might be out of the division race come August, but you can never count them out for a Wild Card spot.

Prediction: LAA 2-1
