Boston Red Sox:
How can you keep getting away with it?
After getting humiliated by the San Francisco Giants in the Rafael Devers trade, the Red Sox still figure as one of the most complete rosters and are for certain a contender to represent the American League in this year’s Fall Classic.
Their pitching rotation is incredible. Adding Ranger Suarez and Sonny Gray to a rotation already including Cy Young candidate Garret Crochet and Bryan Bello is remarkable. Their bullpen is strong with Garrett Whitlock and Aroldis Chapman and their lineup is as balanced as it can be.
Roman Anthony showcased his elite talent and earned himself a hefty extension that will keep him in Boston for years to come. Marcelo Mayer struggled at the plate last year but don’t give up on him just yet, he’ll be just fine. Wilyer Abreu, Jarren Duran and one of Ceddanne Rafaela/Kristian Campbell make out one of the best outfields in the league.
Don’t be surprised if the Red Sox are playing the final game of the season.
Cincinatti Reds:
Can we please appreciate how good of a manager Terry Francona is?
The Cincinatti Reds had an outstanding finish to the regular season in 2025 before being bounced in the Wild Card round at hands of the eventual champion Dodgers. But let’s put into perspective the incredible showing from the Reds.
The team hadn’t made the postseason since the shortened 2020 campaign and had never been particularly close. However, they exceeded expectations and now the pressure is on to compete for a long-awaited division title. A reunion with Eugenio Suarez has the potential to be one of the best moves of the offseason and bringing in a veteran such as Nathaniel Lowe can have a good effect on the locker room.
However, they are not quite there yet. Hunter Greene is the highlight of an underwhelming rotation and he has been in the center of potential trade discussions. Chase Burns dazzled for his first couple of starts, but quickly fazed out with injuries. It is evident what their main concern is and it might be the reason we don’t see the Reds clinching a postseason berth in consecutive years.
With that being said, I still believe the Reds will show out in front of a packed Great American Ballpark and take care of business on Opening Weekend.
Be patient Cincy, you are close.
Prediction: CIN 2-1
