Matchup Deep Dive: COL @ MIA

Colorado Rockies:

The Rockies will consider 2026 a success if they simply avoid threatening the record for most losses in MLB history.

This roster is a mess and, frankly, an insult to the fanbase. Kris Bryant hasn’t played a full season since arriving at Coors Field, and Ezequiel Tovar has yet to prove he can produce consistently. Still, it isn’t all bleak in Denver. Hunter Goodman’s surprising breakout suddenly gives the Rockies a legitimate player to build around. Top prospect Charlie Condon could also make his debut this season, and Zac Veen has the kind of raw power that could produce eye-popping numbers at Coors.

The Rockies won’t be competitive anytime soon, but they might at least give fans a few entertaining nights along the way.

Miami Marlins

Don’t sleep on the Marlins.

Miami finished the 2025 season strong and appears ready to build on that momentum. Kyle Stowers’ emergence gives the lineup some direction, while complementary pieces like Otto Lopez, Xavier Edwards, and Owen Caissie will need to play key roles if this team hopes to make noise.

The addition of Chris Paddack provides depth to an otherwise thin rotation. A healthy Sandy Alcantara should anchor the staff again, and more consistency from Eury Pérez could give Miami a legitimate one-two punch.

There’s real talent on this roster. Plenty would have to go right, but the path to relevance is there.

Prediction: MIA Sweeps
