Matchup Deep Dive: AZ @ LAD

Arizona Diamondbacks:

Having been now 2-years removed from an unexpected WS run in 2023, the D-backs haven’t even sniffed the playoffs.

Last year was a complete nightmare to say the least. Their marquee signing Corbin Burnes went down with an elbow injury that eventually led to Tommy John surgery and his availability for this upcoming season is up in the air. Brandon Pfaadt was inconsistent and Eduardo Rodriguez in not a reliable arm anymore.

Bringing in Nolan Arenado is an upgrade and they have 2 elite players in Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo to round up their lineup. After that, you won’t see much. Expect top prospect Jordan Lawlar to get reps at 3B and hopefully a breakout year from Alek Thomas.

Arizona can be a dangerous team, just don’t count on it.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

You know what sounds better than back-to-back? Well obviously a three-peat.

The Dodgers don’t mess around when it comes to being favorites for a WS title after fishing Edwin Diaz and Kyle Tucker from free agency. Both acquisitions generated negative responses from the baseball community, but can you actually blame them? They are in the winning championships business not in the letting other teams win them one.

This organization is the standard of how to run a professional baseball organization and should be praised for their efforts, not criticized.

I am not picking against this team until they show me otherwise.

Prediction: LAD sweeps
