If this tournament has taught us anything, it’s the heights our game truly is experiencing.
Throughout the 2026 edition of the WBC, we have seen it all. Dark horse contenders upsetting heavy favorites, unexpected dominance from unusual players and an incredible showing from every single country’s fans. It’s a shame we have arrived at the end, but a champion is still to be crowned.
Venezuela will make their WBC Championship Game debut in unanticipated fashion. Even though the team possesses elite talent from both the hitting and pitching standpoints, they were not one of the finalists in the majority of brackets. The “Vinotinto” have displayed a passionate level of play not even the Dominicans can emulate. Ronald Acuña Jr has found his MVP form, and paired with astounding showings from Luis Arraez, Ezequiel Tovar and Maikel Garcia, this team has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with anyone.
On the other hand, the USA emerged victorious from the most electric baseball game we have seen since Game 7 of the 2025 World Series. Paul Skenes headlined a formidable pitching attack that only surrendered one run against what is considered the best lineup ever assembled. Combined with timely hitting from Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony, the Americans find themselves back in the Championship Game after their heartbreaking defeat against Japan last time around.
Nolan McLean and Eduardo Rodriguez will be the starting pitchers tasked with delivering the ultimate glory to their respective nations. Neither one of them has looked sharp in this tournament so a high-scoring game can’t be ruled out. Both teams have intimidating lineups and nasty bullpens; however, Venezuela taxed their relief staff against Italy while the Americans enjoyed a day-off. In order to mitigate this, E-Rod must revitalize what once was considered a feared arm if they want any chance of coming out on top.
USA is attempting to amend last edition’s failure, but Venezuela is playing for something bigger than baseball. As a fan, try to enjoy what could be a game for the ages.
Prediction: VEN 6 – USA 5
